About
Some people write stories. Some people make films. I build places where memories can hide.
As a filmmaker, writer and visual artist, I am interested in silence, absence and the traces people leave behind.
The Morning After You began as a simple image: an empty room, a forgotten melody and a man who no longer remembers why he stayed.
Everything else grew from there.
I have never been particularly interested in staying within one medium.
I make films, write stories, create images, design book covers and compose music. To me, they are different ways of doing the same thing — building atmosphere, telling stories and creating something that stays with you after it ends.
I studied stone sculpture before turning to film. My early film Inspirace received the Český lvíček award in 2007. Since then, my work has moved between cinema, literature and visual art — from the short film Ruchoth Raoth and the feature film Hrana zlomu to the novels Mysterium Tremendum and Hořká múza. Alongside my own projects, I have spent years creating book covers, illustrations and trailers for Czech and Slovak publishers.
The Morning After You brings all of these paths together.
It allows me to approach one story as a filmmaker, writer, visual artist, designer, editor and composer — where image, sound, music, puzzles and silence can all become part of the narrative.
That is why I don't think of The Morning After You simply as a game.
I think of it as a place you enter.
